Glutinous rice, popularly known as “sticky rice” has been the mainstay of rice cultivation and consumption in Laos going back over hundreds of years. IDP is one of the world’s major producers of glutinous rice and we source rice from thousands of local farmers, carefully selected to ensure a consistent, pesticide-free, premium quality grain
Organic food has become increasingly popular across the globe, and rice is no exception to this trend.
IDP is committed to building an important organic rice business and we are heavily promoting its cultivation in a number of provincial districts, working in close collaboration with over 2,000 farmers operating on 4,000 hectares of land. Through this initiative, we are able to provide a wide range of organic including Jasmine, Glutinous and Black rice.
Our Farmers’ groups and the IDP rice mills are certified by CERES, Germany and, in 2017, IDP exported its first organic-certified rice to Europe. Our objective is to dedicate 15% of the total milling capabilities to organic varieties.
Na Lao Brand
While IDP is primarily a wholesale supplier of top quality rice to many different customers, we are also developing our own brand, known as Na Lao (“Lao paddy field”).
The Na Lao brand offers a range of the finest rice products, including glutinous, jasmine and organic jasmine rice in 1 to 20 kg bags.
With our high volume capacity of paddy processing that is primarily committed to glutinous rice, IDP is also the main producer of glutinous by-products, like broken A1, C1, bran and other rejected rice.
